San Francisco Intitute of Music
It is my great pleasure to announce the opening of the San Francisco Institute of Music at The Julia Morgan. Our program is directed to students, ages 5-18, whose parents are seeking an in-depth course of study of orchestral instruments. We endeavor to strike a balance between seriousness and fun, while at the same time being psychologically nurturing.
The program we have developed is an integrated and holistic approach to learning the language of music. Our curriculum of musicianship, composition, and ensemble classes is designed to work in combination with private lessons to streamline and deepen a student's learning process. We hope to help our students discover the power and beauty of music and thereby participate in, and enjoy, this endlessly creative and vital world.

Rainbow colored falling leaves, cows sitting in the old oak tree, tyrannosaurus rex, shining stars, rockets to the moon, trains to the beach. You will hear happy village harvest dances, Korean lullabies, Cuban rain forest songs, and much much more. You'll also find drums of all sorts, bells, triangles, flutes, shakers, scrapers, kitchen instruments, scarves, stretchy dancing ribbons - instruments galore! In a Music Together class, up to twelve children and the adults that love them meet for 45 minutes each week for ten weeks to experience songs, chants, movement activities, and instrumental jam sessions.
